The SO Story.

For the last 10 years, we’ve been searching for sportswear that genuinely reduces the amount of plastic and synthetic materials we’re forced to wear when we work out. It never felt right to me that the clothes we sweat and heat up in (the moments when our bodies are most absorbent) are made almost entirely from plastic fibers. With the volume of plastics and synthetic chemicals surrounding us daily, it became nearly impossible to find activewear that performed well but didn’t feel like wrapping my body in plastic.

Studies show that when your body is warm and sweating, your skin becomes more absorbent, meaning tight synthetic sportswear is often the first thing your body “drinks in.” And as more friends and family share new health issues, symptoms, or unexplained imbalances, it feels more and more important to be talking about the real impact of synthetics in our lives. Research now confirms that exposure to synthetic fibers and plastics contributes to infertility, disrupts the endocrine system, and is linked to long-term hormonal and health issues. As someone who has struggled with hormone balance myself, reducing my exposure to synthetics has been essential in finding equilibrium.

All of this has led us to create Sports Organics.

Sports Organics exists to make sportswear as clean and natural as possible, without sacrificing performance. Our fabrics are GOTS-certified organic, OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class 1 certified, and intentionally designed to minimize synthetic contact with your skin. For more than two years, we’ve worked closely with fabric developers to engineer the perfect stretch organic fabric for our women’s sports bras, bike shorts, and leggings.

For our first men’s drop, we’ve developed industry-leading merino sport fabrics, the lightest and softest merino you’ve ever felt. Merino is naturally self-cleaning and odor-resistant, meaning you can finally say goodbye to smelly synthetic workout tops. We’ve also created men’s merino underwear: a next-to-skin essential that protects, breathes, cools, and stays fresh (really).

We’re expanding both the women’s and men’s collections to include tracksuit pants, organic cotton and merino underwear, running shorts, tanks, and more. Our goal is simple: to protect your skin from synthetic fibers as much as possible, starting with the core pieces you wear the most on your skin.

While it’s not yet possible to be 100% synthetic-free while remaining functional for stretch-wear, we’re already working with bio-based elastane suppliers to create a fully plant-derived stretch fiber blend with our organic cotton that performs like synthetic elastane but is completely natural.

Sports Organics will be priced to remain accessible, even though our natural fibers cost significantly more than the plastics used by major sports brands. We’re doing this because we believe reducing exposure to these chemicals should be something everyone can access.

Stay sweaty,

Love, Georgie & Frank.
